The concession contract on the financing, construction, maintenance and operation of the M5 motorway was signed thirty years ago. AKA Alföld Koncessziós Autópalya Zrt. has undertaken to operate and maintain the 156.5 km long motorway section connecting Budapest with the Röszke border between the 17+400- and 173+895-kilometre sections.
After three development phases between 1998 and 2005, the entire section of the motorway was completed. The M5 motorway is now one of the domestic motorways that crosses three counties and reaches the national border.
