Due to the construction of the M44 expressway, bridge demolition works will be carried out on both sides of the M5 motorway in the proximity of Kecskemét. The second phase of the works start on 9th March 2026. Traffic on the M5 motorway will be restricted to two narrowed lanes in each direction, with traffic diversions and speed limits in place, except during the reconstruction of the traffic diversion. From 10th March late afternoon until early morning the works go on with temporary motorway closure. AKA Ltd. kindly asks road users to exercise patience due to the traffic restrictions caused by the demolition works.

Due to bridge demolition works on both sides of the M5 motorway between km sections 71 and 77 in the proximity of Kecskemét, the current traffic diversion will be rebuilt from 9th March 2026. Traffic towards Budapest will flow on the emergency and slow lanes, while traffic towards Szeged will be directed to the fast lane and to fast lane of the opposite side, ensuring two lanes in each direction on both sides of the motorway.
Due to the bridge demolition works from 10th March 2026 late afternoon until 11th March 2026 early morning, one lane of the traffic towards Szeged will be temporary closed, on the opposite side the traffic can flow on one traffic lane towards Szeged. During this time, traffic towards Budapest will be able to flow uninterrupted on narrowed lanes.
The works are expected to be completed by mid-March 2026. A speed limit of 60 km/h will be in effect on the affected section.
Drivers are notified in advance of the works on the M5 motorway using variable message signs (VMS).

AKA Ltd. asks travelers to drive more carefully and pay attention to colleagues working in the diversion, keeping the speed limit on the M5 Motorway. Unforeseeable events may result in changes to the aforementioned schedule. AKA Ltd. reserves the right to modify the schedule of the maintenance works.
