Winter maintenance of the 156.6-kilometre-long motorway section is performed by three operation and maintenance centres with the help of vehicles specially prepared for the winter operation period. Slippery discharge and snow removal will be done by nine dual-purpose vehicles of the company’s own property on the motorway. In addition, six multifunctional Unimogs eligible for salting and ploughing, three for loading and if necessary, eight machines can be hired to help with the winter operation of the motorway.
4,513 tons of sodium chloride and 20.12 tons of calcium chloride are available in the salt storages of the maintenance centers for the slippery discharge of the motorway pavement. In order to ensure accident-free and continuous traffic, the Operator monitors the condition of the motorway with increased attention on the entire road network. Road conditions are monitored regularly every two hours in the daytime, and in every four hours between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m.
In order to increase traffic safety, a CCTV camera system is operating, that enables continuous traffic monitoring at interchanges and rest areas as well.
