M5 motorway is ready to handle the expected heavy traffic of the Kecskemét Air Show and Kurultaj in Bugac

AKA Zrt. is prepared to handle the expectedly increasing traffic on M5 motorway during summer holidays

 

 

Due to the summer holidays an increased traffic of transit vehicles towards the Röszke border crossing is expected during the coming weekends, that might lead to congestions along the M5 Motorway near Röszke. Hence, AKA Zrt., the Concession Company, and the local authorities have already discussed the anticipated traffic increase and are prepared to handle such traffic situations.

There is summer time again in the 4-day vignette prices from Saturday

 

 

With the beginning of the summer turistic season, 1st May, the price of the 4-day motorway-vignette rises from 1170 Huf to 1530 Huf. The higher price will be valid until 30 September 2010. After that the reduced price has to be paid again for the e-vignettes.

Expected congestions at Röszke

 

Due to the approach of the holidays, feasts and the beginning of the school vacations congestions are expected at the Röszke border station – announced the spokesman of the Csongrád County's Police Chief Captaincy on Thursday.

 

Major traffic is expected on the exit side of the Röszke border station from 3:00 pm on Friday afternoon until dawn, and on Saturday, during the whole day. The drivers of the personal vehicles leaving Hungary may face up to three hours waiting time, the truck drivers might be waiting for an hour – said János Pál, Police Lieutenant Colonel. The entering traffic will exceed the half hour waiting during Saturday morning – added the spokesman. The lieutenant colonel recommended for the transiting drivers to use the Tompa borders station in order to avoid the increased waiting time during this period. This border crossing can be reached from the M5 motorway, from the Soltvadkert or from the Kiskunfélegyháza exits. The detour is only 5 Kms long. The Hungarian and the Serbian citizens may choose the Tiszasziget border station between 8:00 am and 6:00pm as well. (MTI)

Speed limit of 100 km/h

 

 

Since the traffic-load has considerably increased, for safety reasons 100 km/h speed limit has been introduced on M5 Motorway on both directions between km section 17,4 and Gyál interchange (21,6 km).

The M5 Concession is 15 years old

 

 

15 years ago, on 2nd of May 1994, the Hungarian State and a consortium of private shareholders concluded the Concession Contract for a period of 35 years for the construction, financing, operation and maintenance of the M5 Motorway.

Take care your values – tricky theft on the motorways

 

The expropriations target mostly foreigners on the M1 and M5 motorways. It is characteristic for the thefts that the plaintiffs are stopped with a misrepresentation then their attention is kept busy while the perpetrators try to catch values in the car.

Motorway vignette by holiday cheque

 

The motorway vignette can be paid by holiday cheque from next month, because the range of acceptance of that has been extended. It also can be used for car-rental.

 

From 1st February even the motorway vignette can be paid by holiday cheque - thanks to the agreement signed today.

 

For the time being payment can be done in the customer offices of Állami Autópálya Kezelő Zrt., but its director Attila Nagy said that he hoped that retailers would also take the opportunity. In this case it's expected that the service would be available in an electronic way and sms soon.

Yearly motorway-vignette buying even on mobile phone

 

 

With the service of the so called 'iziSHOP' - which is the sale partner of Állami Autópálya Kezelő Zrt. - the yearly e-vignette can be purchased by mobile phone for the travellers. The usage of the service - which exists from the beginning of this year - is not charged of any kind of supplemental fee (e.g. 'convenience fee' or SMS-fee).

The motorway vignette prices wil not change - the E-Vignette for 2007 Prices in 2009 too

 

 

In accordance with the decision of the Ministry of Transport, Telecommunication and Energy Affairs, the e-vignettes – similar to the last year – can be obtained for invariable price in 2009 too. The government and – on the basis of its submission – the Parliament has aggravated the 'Point System of Public Road Traffic Antecedents'. The values of points assigned to the individual traffic offences – named as penalty points in the everyday language – has consistently increased by two points.

AKA Zrt. continues its heavy maintenance program on the M5 motorway

 

 

Favorable weather conditions have set in, besides the usual localized surface works, the heavy maintenance program continues on the M5 motorway. Till autumn AKA Alföld Koncessziós Autópálya Zrt. - within the frame of its 2008 heavy maintenance program - is going to give new surface to the right carriageway between 77+000 and 113+750km section and to the left carriageway between 81+000 – 104+800 km section of the motorway between Kecskemét and Kiskunfélegyháza. The works will affect Hetény and Kecskemét rest areas and all the junctions on the section as well. Further to the press release>>

WEIGH STATION OPENING

 

The weigh station on the motorway at the chainage km 71+500 of the left carriageway will be opened at 1st of February 2007.

WEIGH STATION ESTABLISHING

 

 

Contributing to the safer traffic, we expect to open our first fix weigh station in the middle of December 2006.

The exact place of the station: chainage km 71+500 of the left carriageway.

 

The simple procedure for the weigh station will be the following:
After getting out of the motorway, the heavy vehicles – using the parallel service road – will pass through the great speed axle load weigh.
The vehicles, felt overweight, will be directed to the weigh station, where they will take part in a control measurement.
If they do not prove to be overweight, they will return to the main carriageway of the motorway along the parallel service road.
